The KORES lab focuses on advance water and wastewater treatment processes with particular interest on material and process optimization at the water-energy nexus interface. We use fundamentals to improve performance of processes while bridging the gap between the lab scale and real-life applications through vigorous cost and energy optimization techniques. We derive research questions based on community concerns related to water quality. We work on pilot scale projects collaborating with utilities and community members to demonstrate water and water reuse processes. At lab scale we work on process and material optimization for selective decontamination of emerging contaminants such as PFAS.
