Congratulations to Dr. Jack Welchert for successfully defending his PhD dissertation titled “Development of a novel, cellulose sponge based sorbent for pfas adsorption”. First PhD defense from the KORES Lab.
Congratulations to Lynn Carroll for receiving an NSF-GRFP! Lynn has been doing research in the KORES lab since her freshman year and she is a first year PhD student in our group!
It is conference season: Jack Welchert and McKenna Dunmyer presented their research on PFAS at the National Ground Water Association Conference on Groundwater in the PFAS Era: Stressors, Protection, and Compliance.

First in person meeting/workshop for our Arizona Board of Regents Project! Our group collaborates with the Savagatrup, the Ingram (NAU) and the Brusseau laboratories and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to provide solutions to the forever contaminant challenges that Arizona faces.

Field trip in the Monument Valley Park community in the Navajo Nation as part of our NSF funded project the Transformation Network. During this trip we troubleshooted a Solar UV system installed in the area and had a meeting with the community. We are grateful for the community, their time and sharing their knowledge and experiences.

Hua Jiang, (2nd year PhD student) gave an excellent presentation ammonia recovery from wastewater at our ChEE Friday Seminar. The Friday seminars are geared towards our graduate students to work on their communication skills and introduce their research amongst their peers.

Welcome Kara Walton and Ailyn Brizo to the KORES lab
Kara Walton is an accelerated MS student and she will be working on optimization of solar membrane processes and Ailyn Brizo is an Indige-FEWS fellow and she will be working on nanofiltration for off-grid water purification in the Navajo Nation.
Excellent virtual presentation series for the College of Engineering with Dr. Kim Ogden on our work we do in collaboration with Tribal communities in Arizona.
