Safiyyah Ogundipe graduated with her B.S. in Chemical-Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where her final year of research focused on exploring proposed methods for PFAS ("forever chemicals") degradation using genetically-engineered bacteria and the corresponding assay development. She is a first year Chemical Engineering PhD student in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering under Dr. Karanikola, as well as a current University Fellow. Her research interests include environmental remediation, water/wastewater and soil treatment, and emerging contaminants. She is passionate about working at the intersections of environmental health, community health systems, and both lab- and pilot-scale technologies. In her free time, she enjoys live music, sketching, and getting better at roller skating.
